The Old Street Recovery Group are a diverse group of people brought together by a common solution to alcoholism. The friendships we’ve built with each other have become a big part of our recovery journey, giving us support, connection, and a sense of belonging. Along with following the Steps and helping newcomers, these relationships are key to how we stay sober and grow. We’re an LGBTQIA+-friendly group offering a safe, welcoming space for all alcoholics to recover and find community.

ON PAGE 15 PARAGRAPH 2 OF OUR BASIC TEXT FONDLY KNOWN AS THE BIG BOOK A COFOUNDER WRITES:
“We commenced to make many fast friends and a fellowship has grown up among us of which it is a wonderful thing to feel a part of. The joy of living we really have, even under pressure and difficulty.”
AND ON PAGE 132 PARAGRAPH 1:
But we aren’t a glum lot. If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn’t want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life.
AND ON PAGE 152 PARAGRAPHS 1 & 2:
But am I to be consigned to a life where I shall be stupid, boring and glum, like some righteous people I see? I know I must get along without liquor, but how can I? Have you a sufficient substitute?” Yes, there is a substitute and it is vastly more than that. It is a fellowship in Alcoholics Anonymous. There you will find release from care, boredom and worry. Your imagination will be fired. Life will mean something at last. The most satisfactory years of your existence lie ahead. Thus we find the fellowship, and so will you.
