Tuesday Night “Closed” Having Recovered; What Now?

Location: Betty Brunker Hall, 152 Lever St, London EC1V 8BG.

Time: 18:00 – 19:00. Doors open at 17:40.

Meeting format: Step 10–12 Discussion Meeting
The meeting is rooted in the AA Basic Text and focuses on Steps 10, 11 and 12. Steps 10 and 11 support a daily practice of honesty, reflection and emotional balance. Step 12 calls us to carry the message and live these principles in all areas of life.

This is a focused discussion meeting rather than a general sharing meeting, so contributions are asked to stay close to the reading, with personal experience shared in that context. Questions, cross-talk and more than one share are welcome, provided others are not interrupted or challenged.

The meeting is recorded from the start of the reading only to create an interactive transcript for circulation the following week. No names are attached to the recording or transcript, and the audio is deleted once the transcript is produced. Anyone uncomfortable with this is welcome to step out before recording begins.

The meeting flows as a conversational open discussion as we move through our chosen book, helping us explore how the ideas align with Steps 10-12 and how they can be applied in our daily life.

Fellowship: Commonly known as the meeting after the meeting. The members of our group will say that this common A.A. practice was really helpful in their early days. We always go for a meal at an affordable local restaurant, all are welcome.

Friday Night “Open” Newcomer-Focused Speaker Meeting.

Location: Betty Brunker Hall, 152 Lever St, London EC1V 8BG. The meeting has greeters outside at 17:45 pm.

Time: 18:15 – 19:30. Doors open at 17:45.

Meeting format: In the first half, we begin by calling up alcoholics to share about their alcoholism for a few minutes each (The chairperson will ask people beforehand if they’re comfortable with this; no one will be put on the spot). At 6:40 pm we pause for Tradition 7 and a 10-minute break. After that, the night’s guest speaker shares for 30 – 35 minutes. The Secretary’s announcements follow this.

Coffee, Tea and snacks are served before the meeting and during the break.

Note: An “Open” Meeting like our Friday one are for anyone who wants to find out more about Alcoholics Anonymous. Our focus at that meeting is on carrying the message of A.A. to the alcoholic newcomer. However it is also a place for non-alcoholics to find out more about Alcoholics Anonymous and what we can offer to those suffering from Alcoholism.

A “Closed” Meeting is only for alcoholics or those with a desire to stop drinking. The reason being is instead of talking in a general way the format of the meeting is focussed more on the A.A program of recovery.
